Webinar: Building Effective Frameworks for Inclusive Stakeholder Engagement

Third Stakeholder Involvement Workshop, September 2023

NEA Director-General William D. Magwood, IV, at the Third Stakeholder Involvement Workshop.

The NEA has opened registration for the final preparatory webinar in advance of the Fourth NEA Stakeholder Involvement Workshop on Optimisation in Decision Making: From Insight to Action. The webinar on 7 May 2025 will focus on deepening inclusive, equitable and effective stakeholder engagement in the nuclear sector and beyond.

Following discussions on factors that can lead to power imbalances and how to mitigate them, this webinar aims to bring the conversation forward by focusing on how to structure stakeholder engagement for real-world impact. Participants will explore what inclusive engagement looks like in practice and how robust frameworks can support meaningful participation across diverse contexts and stakeholder groups.

In complex sectors, such as nuclear energy, stakeholder engagement is fundamental to good governance, public trust and sustainable decision-making. This webinar will highlight the importance of creating and applying structured but flexible frameworks that ensure fairness, inclusivity and transparency at every stage of the decision-making process.

In this webinar, participants will engage in a variety of activities including:

  • Interactive breakout discussions grounded in real-world challenges and case studies from the nuclear sector and activities to provide practical examples of meaningful engagement under different sets of conditions.
  • Collective reflection on how to translate engagement strategies into practical action.
  • A forward-looking focus on how insights from this webinar will inform the October 2025 workshop, which will delve into optimisation of decision making and implementation.

This webinar is practical, participatory, and policy-relevant. While it builds on two earlier sessions, no prior attendance is required.

Registration closes on 5 May 2025.
