Ageing management of thick-walled concrete structures, including in-service inspections maintenance and repair, instrumentation methods and safety assessment in view of long-term operation

Prague, Czech Republic
1-3 October 2008

The workshop will include an introductory session, technical sessions devoted to technical presentations by participants on the topics outlined below and a final session. The final session will summarise the discussions and develop conclusions and recommendations for possible further actions by the CSNI. All the participants are expected to take part in the discussion and in the formulation of conclusions in the final session.

Papers and case studies addressing the following issues are welcomed. Several sessions with ample time for discussion will be organised accordingly on these topics:

  • plant life management and plant life extension (PLiM/PLEX) of containment structures;
  • identification, analysis and prediction of long-term performance of containment structures;
  • non-destructive testing of concrete structures;
  • instrumentation;
  • probabilistic, reliability and performance-based approaches to lifetime assessment;
  • operational experience feedback;
  • confirmation of containment leak tightness and margins;
  • identification, analysis and modelling of ageing effects and degradation;
  • measurement, analysis and prediction of pre-stress loss.
