Information System on Occupational Exposure (ISOE)
The
objective of the Information System on Occupational Exposure (ISOE) is
to:
- Provide
broad and regularly updated information on methods to improve the protection
of workers and on occupational exposure in nuclear power plants, and
-
Provide a mechanism for dissemination of information on these issues,
including evaluation and analysis of the data assembled, as a contribution
to the optimisation of radiation protection
Including:
- Promotion
and co-ordination of international co-operative undertakings in the
area of protection of workers at nuclear power plants, and
-
Forum for communication between radiation protection experts
Products
-
- World's largest database on occupational exposure data in nuclear
power plants available on Microsoft ACCESS for all ISOE Participants.
-
- Yearly overview of the achievements of the ISOE Programme
-
- offering detailed studies and analyses of the ISOE Databases,
as well as information on current issues in operational radiation
protection
-
on Occupational Exposure Management in Nuclear Power Plants (ALARA)
Participation
The ISOE databases currently include occupational exposure
information for 480
reactors, both operating and in cold shut down or some stage of
decommissioning, operated by 69 utilities from 29
countries. National regulatory authorities from 26 countries participate
also in the ISOE programme. Some 91% of the world's operating commercial
nuclear reactors participate in the ISOE programme (403 from a total
of 442).
ISOE management
The Information System on Occupational Exposure (ISOE) was created by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) in 1992 and has since been co-sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to involve countries which are not members of the NEA. Subsequently the IAEA and NEA formed a joint Secretariat. The
ISOE programme's overall direction is the responsibility of a Steering
Group, which works in close collaboration with the NEA Committee on Radiation
Protection and Public Health (CRPPH). More information.
