Thermochemical Database (TDB) ProjectPhase IIIThe goal, objectives and methodology of the third phase of the Thermochemical Database (TDB) project (TDB III) remain the same as those of earlier phases of the project: to make available a comprehensive, internally consistent, internationally recognised and quality-assured chemical thermodynamic database of selected chemical elements. This database should meet the specialised modelling requirements for safety assessments of radioactive waste disposal systems. During 2003, a exploratory stage was carried out on the existing literature for inorganic species and compounds of Th, Fe, Mo and Sn. As a first priority of TDB III, review work on Th, Sn and Fe was started in 2004 for a duration of three years. Other items in the TDB III programme of work are the preparation of scientific guidelines for the evaluation of thermodynamic data for solid solutions and the efficient presentation of the data contained in the TDB reviews.
