Nuclear Data Services ActivitiesThe JEFF and EFF ProjectsThe Joint Evaluated Fission and Fusion (JEFF) Library is a collaborative
project between the countries participating in the NEA Data Bank. The JEF-3.1
library is the latest version and it was released in May 2005. It contains sets of
evaluated nuclear data, both for fusion and fission applications; it contains a number
of different data types, including
neutron and proton interaction data, radioactive decay data, fission yield data, thermal
scattering law data and photo-atomic interaction data. Nuclear Science and the Data Service ActivitiesIntroductionThe role of Nuclear Science is in maintaining, advancing
and disseminating the common core of scientific knowledge needed by the
different players involved in nuclear technology utilisation and development. Among the activities carried out under the mandate of Nuclear Science, a number are related to nuclear data, including the co-ordination of the major evaluated nuclear data efforts in the world, to improve the accuracy of the data for the benefit of safety margins and economics (The Working Party on International Evaluation Co-operation). Similarly, a co-ordination of experimental activities takes place to ensure efficient use of the limited experimental resources for neutron data measurements (Working Party on International Nuclear Data Measurement Activities). Working Party on International Evaluation Co-operation (WPEC)The OECD NEA Nuclear Science Committee's Working Party
on International Evaluation Co-operation was established in 1991
to facilitate co-operation between evaluation projects and to initiate
and progress studies on specific evaluation topics. These studies are
carried out by subgroups of the Working Party. High Priority Nuclear Data Request ListOne of the subgroups of WPEC is responsible for drawing
up the High Priority Nuclear Data Request List. This list is designed
to provide guidance to those managing the measurement and evaluation programmes
on the requirements for improved nuclear data for applications, primarily
(but not exclusively) in nuclear power technology. Because of the limited
resources available a careful consideration of the important requirements
is helpful. This involves proposals being formulated initially by the
users of nuclear data followed by a detailed examination by the representatives
of the measurement laboratories and evaluation projects. These comment
on the status of the data and the feasibility of making improved measurements
or evaluations to the requested accuracy. The alternative of meeting requirements
using nuclear theory is also considered. Sammy Users' GroupThe purpose of the users' group is to provide:
More information on the SAMMY User's Group. Data files associated with computer programsIn addition to the basic nuclear data compiled and disseminated by the activities of the NEA Data Bank Nuclear Data Services, processed nuclear data (normally associated with a specific computer code) are disseminated via Computer Program Services. For details of data files offered through Computer Program Services, please refer to the list of available processed libraries. |
