3.
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION - 2D-SEEP and 3D-SEEP calculate the saturated-unsaturated time dependent or steady state flow of groundwater in permeable geologic media for the safety evaluation of nuclear waste disposal.
4.
METHOD OF SOLUTION - 2D-SEEP is written for two-dimensional Cartesian or cylindrical coordinate systems. 3D-SEEP is written for all three spatial dimensions and allows the modeling of complex geometrical shapes and complicated pattern of geologic media. The Galerkin finite element method is used. The groundwater flow is modeled by single phase flow governed by Darcy's law and the simplified double porosity model is introduced to consider fractured media.

3D-SEEP NEA-1250/02 Tested
2D-SEEP solves the heat conductive and convective equation using the Bubnov-Galerkin (up-stream weighting) finite element method. Ground- water flow and heat transport processes are coupled via fluid density and viscosity.
3D-SEEP can handle non-uniform flow regions having irregular boundaries and arbitrary degree of local anisotropy.
