DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION - Multiple scattering of neutrons in the resonance energy region impinging on a disk with an arbitrary angle.
4.
METHOD OF SOLUTION - The Monte Carlo method is employed to simulate the path of an incident neutron in a medium for which macroscopic cross sections are determined by resonance parameters. By tracing a large number of neutrons, probabilities for capture, transmission, front-face scattering, rear-face scattering and side-face scattering are determined and printed out as function of incident neutron energy. Optionally, the distribution of capture locations in the disk can be printed. The incident neutron energy is swept to fit a situation as encountered in time-of-flight experiments.
5.
RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM - The cross section file is constructed from input resonance parameters with a single- level Breit-Wigner formula. The following restrictions and simplifications apply:
6.
TYPICAL RUNNING TIME - Depends on resonance parameters and disk thickness. Typical running time for peak shape lookup is about 30 seconds per resonance.

- The maximum number of resonances is five.
- Reactions other than capture and scattering are neglected.
- The angular scattering distribution in the center-of-mass system is assumed to be uniform.
- Chemical binding effects are neglected.
NEA 0971/01: NEA-DB executed the 2 test cases included in the package. Execution times were: 10.24 seconds for test case 1 and 98.18 seconds for test case 2.
