3.
DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION - Calculates the energy spectra of particles emitted in (i,x) and (i,xy) reactions. The incoming (i) and outgoing (x,y) particles can be neutrons, protons, deuterons, tritons, helium-3 or alpha particles.
4.
METHOD OF SOLUTION - The master equations of the exciton (pre- equilibrium Griffin) model describing the equilibration of the composite nucleus are solved exactly by a matrix method up to t = infinite.
5.
RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM - 6.
TYPICAL RUNNING TIME - Compilation with FTN compiler, OPTN=2, takes 7.9 seconds. The sample problem which computes the reaction FE54 + p (28.8 MeV) taking into account 6 simple and 5 double reactions takes 25.4 seconds on the CDC 7600.
7.
UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM - The program is capable of carry- ing out an improved pre-equilibrium calculation that predicts the absolute values of the energy differential cross sections without having to superimpose any evaporative component. The artificial time subdivision previously introduced between the pre-equilibrium and equilibrium parts of a reaction have been removed.

OTHER PROGRAMMING OR OPERATING INFORMATION OR RESTRICTIONS - Single
precision (60 bits/word) is used except for matrix calculation which is done in double precision. No special CDC programming instruction is used except PROGRAM in the first card.

In this way, pre-equilibrium as well as equilibrium features of a reaction are taken into account. Particle spectra are interpreted without adding any extra evaporative component.
