NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED - Elastic analysis of piping system. 4.
METHOD OF SOLUTION - The flexibility matrix A is first calculated, which is a 6 x 6 matrix known by the characteristics of the piping system. The free thermal expansion vector is then calculated at one anchor. This vector should be zero. Therefore, the force vector F at the anchor is determined by the inverse flexibility matrix a**(-1), and the free thermal expansion vector is determined by Fuchs's law. 5.
