DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION - ELPHIC-PC (Emission of Light Particles in Heavy Ions Collisions) is a series of Monte Carlo programs for simulation of nuclear reactions with heavy ions. Using the statistical model assumptions these programs give as a results the charge, mass and energy spectra and angular distributions in the laboratory system. These spectra can be obtained for two fission fragments, evaporation residues and light particles emitted in different stages of a reaction. There are two principal aims of the program. The first is an investigation of the reaction scheme by comparison of experimental data and calculations. The second is a simulation of planned multi-detector experiments both inclusive and correlated.
4.
METHOD OF SOLUTION - The program ELPHIC-PC is divided into two main parts corresponding to the two successive parts of an experiment -
5.
RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM - Only three kinds of light particles with any A and Z emitted from different sources and two fission fragments may be considered.
6.
TYPICAL RUNNING TIME - The test case included in this package ran for ELP: 700 s; and for ELPRI: 90 s on an IBM PC/AT computer.
7.
UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM - 8.
RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS - This is an extension of the version of ELPHIC for on an CDC computers.
9.
STATUS 10.

MACHINE REQUIREMENTS - ELPHIC-PC requires an IBM PC/XT, /AT or compatible computer with 256 Kbytes memory, one floppy disk drive and hard disk. A math coprocessor is recommended but not required.
12.
PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE(S) USED - 13.
OPERATING SYSTEM UNDER WHICH PROGRAM IS EXECUTED - MD-DOS 3.3 or later. All three programs included in this package have been compiled on an IBM PC/AT microcomputer using compiler of Turbo-Pascal v.3.0, Borland Ltd.

measurement and data presentation; ELP - the main program for simulation of the nuclear reaction with heavy ions, which stores results event-by-event in binary form. ELPRI - the program for sorting and selection of one- and two-dimensional spectra and for printing them. The combined standard-weighted Monte-Carlo method is used in ELP. The scheme of nuclear reaction with heavy ions is divided into the following stages: (1) collision, composite system formation and direct emission of the light particles in the case of incomplete fusion, (2) compound nucleus formation and evaporation of light particles, (3) fission of the compound nucleus into two heavy fragments or evaporation residue formation, (4) evaporation of light particles from fission fragments. ELPCUT sums up and prepares different output files from ELP.
IAEA1223/01:
The test cases included in this package were run at the NEA-DB on a PC/80486 (66MHz). Execution times were 17m30s for ELPHIC; and 2m10s for ELPRI.

IAEA1223/01:
The executable supplied by the author was run at the NEA-DB under MS-DOS 6.2. To compile the included sources, a Borland Turbo Pascal Version 3.0 compiler is required, which was not available. To compile with newer versions of Turbo Pascal, the program must be modified.
